FC Nantes Mercato: targeting Moroccan prodigy amid crisis
In the cramped meeting room of FC Nantes, the club’s hierarchy pores over scouting reports as the team languishes at the foot of Ligue 2, fresh from a defeat to Laval, while the transfer market buzzes with the name of Hossam Essadak.
Crisis at the bottom of Ligue 2
The Canaris sit last in the championship after another loss to Laval in Ligue 2. The club’s recent form has deepened the sense of urgency among the board and supporters.
Even as the season spirals, the FCN continues its Mercato activity, focusing on the 21‑year‑old midfielder from Union Touarga. The club believes the young talent can add quality to a struggling side.
Transfer terms and hurdles
According to the account @FcnantesFoot, discussions are underway for a deal valued at roughly €400 000. The source says Essadak has already given his consent to join the Canaris.
The main obstacle now lies in negotiations between FC Nantes and L’Union Touarga. The Moroccan club is demanding a 25 % clause on any future resale of the player.
Club officials have indicated they are not yet comfortable with that condition, warning it could slow or even jeopardise the transfer.
Essadak, a left‑footed midfielder, progressed through the prestigious Mohammed VI Academy before signing for Union Touarga in January 2024. He is a recognised Moroccan international at youth level.
He captained Morocco at the U20 World Cup 2025, a tournament won by the Lion Cubs of Atlas, and earned a place in the team of the tournament at the CAN U20. The federation highlighted him as a leader of a promising generation.
The club has already advanced on personal terms with the player, but still needs to resolve the transfer fee and the resale‑percentage demand. The dossier will be monitored in the coming days.
