FC Bayern’s Tim Binder could be the pre‑season’s breakout

In the preparation (Vorbereitung) of FC Bayern, a young talent has emerged as the possible winner (Gewinner) of the pre‑season, a youngster who was barely on anyone’s radar weeks (Wochen) ago. Tim Binder, the 19‑year‑old Rechtsaußen, impressed in several test matches, putting his name (Name) at the forefront (Vordergrund) of the squad’s plans.

Impressive test performances

Binder was already noticeable in the Test against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. The Rechtsaußen produced a striking Einzelaktion, earned an Elfmeter and collected his first Pluspunkte. Only a few had his name on their Zettel just Wochen ago, but his performances in several Testspielen have put him at the Vordergrund of the squad’s plans. In the Telekom Cup match versus RB Leipzig, he again proved he does not hide behind more experienced teammates.

Auch his versatility was on display; he can operate on the wing and also centrally behind the striker. Der coach praised his ability to adapt, noting that the Rechtsau also contributes defensively. Mit this flexibility, he offers the Mannschaft additional options.

After the domestic tests, the 19‑year‑old travelled with the Profikader to Asien, gaining exposure to senior training environments. The experience was intended to prepare him for possible Einsätze with the Profis later in the season.

Path to the first team

Sportvorstand Max Eberl now sees the 19‑year‑old as very close to the first Mannschaft. He noted that Binder’s contract runs until 2027 and that he is already near regular Einsätze with the Profis.

Die competition for offensive positions includes Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Luis Díaz, Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl, making regular Bundesliga minutes a tough goal. Nevertheless, the depth of talent in Bayern’s attacking ranks means the youngster must continue to impress to break through.

Eberl believes that the preparation has been as much about showcasing Binder for future Bundesliga minutes as it is about securing a possible contract extension, keeping the youngster in the race to become the preparation’s Gewinner.
