FC Bayern München criticizes Jhon Durans' greedy career decisions
Jhon Duran, who once shocked FC Bayern Munich with his goal‑scoring threat, is portrayed in Fred’s podcast “Charla” as a player for whom only money matters. The Colombian, who after spells at Aston Villa, Al‑Nassr and Zenit St. Petersburg is now on loan at Benfica Lisbon, allegedly said “everything doesn’t matter” as soon as training was mentioned, according to Fred.
From Bayern‑Dreamers to Money Hunters
In October 2024, Duran scored the winning goal for Aston Villa against FC Bayern, after which he declared Bayern to be his dream club. Despite interest from Real Madrid and PSG, he moved in summer 2025 for €77 million to Al‑Nassr, the second‑most expensive transfer in Saudi Arabia, and signed a contract until 2030 with an annual salary of around €20 million.
After only half a year, Duran was loaned to Fenerbahçe Istanbul, but the loan was terminated in February because he missed training. The then‑coach José Mourinho described his behaviour as disrespectful and pointed to clear rules.
Further Rise and Ongoing Money Debate
Because his high salary prevented a stay in Europe’s top leagues, Duran was loaned in the summer to Zenit St. Petersburg, where international matches were prohibited due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In nine games he scored one goal and provided an assist before he did not return after the season ended.
Currently Duran is on loan at Benfica Lisbon and has so far made twelve appearances with two goals. Fred recalled Duran’s comment when moving to Zenit: “The more, the better”, and emphasized that Duran repeatedly stressed that he had saved the lives of his family and three generations.
The podcast “Charla” asked Fred about the “craziest” teammate of his career, and he chose Jhon Duran without hesitation. The anecdote in which Duran allegedly said: “Man, I’m already rich – I don’t have to run”, underlines that of a player whose priority, according to Fred, is clearly money.
