FC Bayern keep months‑long contact with Manchester United’s wonderkid JJ Gabriel

FC Bayern have been in contact with Manchester United’s 15‑year‑old wonderkid JJ Gabriel since February, according to the latest News and Features on the German giants. The club’s interest was first reported by and has now been confirmed by Bayern sport director Christoph Freund, who said the player is "very, very talented" but added that Bayern are not currently in exchange with him.

Contact and obstacles

Bayern’s scouting department, led by assistant Bastian Wernscheid to sport director Max Eberl, has reportedly met Gabriel and his representatives in person. The meeting, confirmed by both and tz, took place after the club began its months‑long outreach in February.

International transfer rules present a major hurdle: as an English national, Gabriel may only move to a European club after his 18th birthday unless he can obtain an EU passport. His father is Irish and his mother has Cypriot roots, which could provide a route to eligibility.

When asked at a press conference before the Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin whether Bayern were in talks, Freund replied unequivocally: "Currently not." He declined to comment further, stating that Bayern do not discuss players under contract elsewhere.

Other top clubs have been linked to the Talent, with The Athletic naming Real Madrid, Paris Saint‑Germain and FC Barcelona alongside Bayern., however, suggests Real Madrid are the favourites to secure the move.

Gabriel's prodigious record

Gabriel has been with Manchester United since he was eleven and burst onto the scene by scoring 23 goals in 23 U18 Premier League matches last season, earning the best‑player award for the competition.

In August he made his professional debut, becoming the youngest United player ever to appear for the first team. He then starred in the UEFA Youth League, netting a hat‑trick in a 5‑0 home win over Sabah.

Following his breakthrough, the Telegraph reported that Gabriel asked United to cancel his registration, a move that caused a "shock" at the club and led him to delete all United‑related posts from his social media accounts.

Tuchel lauds Kane

England’s national team manager Thomas Tuchel has sung the praises of Bayern striker Harry Kane in a new documentary about England’s World Cup journey in North America. Tuchel highlighted Kane’s relentless training ethic, saying, "He is always there, always training, and his level since joining Bayern Munich is impressive."

Tuchel also noted Kane’s influence off the pitch, describing his leadership in training camps and his motivational talks as "unique". The 33‑year‑old is now a leading candidate for the Ballon d'Or 2026, having scored 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern last season.

The Ballon d'Or ceremony will be held on 26 October in London, and the Champions League final (CL‑Finale) is set to return to Munich (München) later this year, providing a fitting backdrop for the Star’s continued success.

Wie Bayern will proceed after the recent developments remains to be seen, but Nach the meeting with Gabriel’s camp the club appears to be weighing its options carefully.
