FC Bayern holds concrete talks – Boey faces a swift exit

On deadline day, when the transfer window closed in the Munich stadium, a surprise move for Sacha Boey almost would have dominated the headlines: FC Bayern is now holding concrete talks to quickly remove the 25‑year‑old right‑back from the squad – a possible swift exit is on the table.

Trend towards Boey's departure

The trend remains clear: Boey is expected to leave Bayern. FC Bayern's goal is to offload the Frenchman in the summer, but so far the plan has been unsuccessful. The 25‑year‑old double‑winner contract partner remains on the sidelines, while most transfer windows in Europe have already closed.

Possible destination in the Saudi Pro League

Saudi clubs from the Pro League are seen as the last resort. According to reporter Christian Falk, FC Bayern is holding concrete talks with several clubs from the desert that are still allowed to sign new players until October. Boey is open to a move to the Saudi Pro League, a possible transfer could be realised later this year.

Sport director Christoph Freund said on Friday: “If it comes to the point that all markets are closed and he stays here, then he will simply be a regular member of our team.” Despite Boey’s impeccable conduct and superb preparation, the club remains firmly determined to sell him. Boey’s contract runs until 2028.

On deadline day, rumors unexpectedly emerged about a move to FC Fulham. The English buyer had Boey on his list, should Kenny Tete have been released at the last second. The 30‑year‑old, however, remained in England, and talks about a signing transfer fell through.

Since his return from the loan at Galatasaray, Boey has been training individually and is not slated for any matchday squad – he therefore remains on the sidelines. In the Bavarian state capital, no perspective was presented to him after the transfer window closed.

While transfer windows in Switzerland, the Czech Republic (until September 8), Poland (09.09.), Mexico and Brazil (each 11.09.) as well as Greece (15.09.) are still open, a move to these countries is practically ruled out because of the high salary. The €30 million transfer in January 2024 still has the Frenchman in the squad, which is far from the desired solution.

The possible swift exit of Boey shows that FC Bayern, despite the double‑victory, is ready to offload expensive players in order to optimise the squad.
