FC Bayern considers former goalkeeper Johannes Schenk's return
In the search for a new goalkeeper, a tense atmosphere prevails at the training ground of the Allianz Arena, as Bayern Munich focuses on the 23‑year‑old Johannes Schenk, a former homegrown talent, who is currently playing on loan from Preußen Münster at the Belgian top‑flight club SK Beveren and has already made several appearances there.
Bayern keeps an eye on Schenk
Johannes Schenk is no stranger to Bayern. In 2017 he moved to the Munich club’s youth department and progressed through the U17, U19 and U23 there. In the summer of 2023 FC Bayern loaned him to Preußen Münster, and a year later the permanent signing followed. His contract with the Westphalian club runs until 2028.
Strong performances in Belgium
Since the summer of 2024, Schenk has been playing for the Belgian top‑flight club SK Beveren, after Preußen Münster loaned the player following their relegation to the third division. In Belgium he consistently delivers strong performances, which have apparently not gone unnoticed by FC Bayern either. At his current parent club he holds a contract until 2028.
When asked about his own sporting future, Schenk recently told the Tz. He emphasized: “For me it’s about getting the maximum out of myself this season, developing every day and helping the team as best as possible.” With that, he clearly focuses his attention on the ongoing season.

When asked about a possible club change he replied: “Everything else will sort itself out.” At the same time he displayed his ambition: “I am very ambitious and always want to take the next step in my career and play at the highest possible level.”
The Tz reports suggest that Bayern Munich has a concrete interest in a return of the former goalkeeper. So far, however, there is no official confirmation from the club. Whether a transfer will materialise from the scouting radar remains to be seen.
Should Bayern bring the young goalkeeper back, he could serve as an option for the strained goalkeeper position and at the same time give the player the chance to play at the highest level. Regardless of the outcome, the interest confirms that consistent performances abroad sustainably influence the career paths of young talents.
