Fans weigh in on possibility of Genesio taking RC Lens helm
RC Lens supporters were asked whether they would welcome Bruno Genesio as the successor to Yannick Cahuzac on the club’s “sang et or” bench. The online poll, conducted on X, recorded 68.7 percent voting “no” and 31.3 percent in favour, a decisive majority against the move.
Poll launched in September
The questionnaire was posted on X on 24 September 2026, inviting RC Lens followers to answer the question “Bruno Genesio on the bench of RC Lens, you take?”. The poll collected responses from a broad cross‑section of the fanbase.
The verdict was described as “sans appel” by the survey organisers. According to Canal+, the result reflects a strong reluctance among the fanbase, despite a vocal minority expressing enthusiasm on social media.
Nevertheless, several users on social platforms posted messages hoping to see Genesio arrive at Lens. The 60‑year‑old coach, who previously led LOSC, has already sparked imagination among those fans.
Marseille may lose Genesio as five coaches line up for his job
Yannick Cahuzac only recently replaced Dino Toppmöller as head coach of RC Lens and has quickly earned a solid reputation among the supporters. His fresh tenure is a key reason many prefer to retain him rather than replace him with an external figure.
Genesio’s Lille past and salary
Genesio’s earlier spell at LOSC also colours opinions, with some Lens fans wary of his Lille legacy. Moreover, his current remuneration at Olympique de Marseille – around €400,000 per month – is seen as beyond the financial reach of RC Lens.
Canal+ quoted pundits Daniel Riolo and Loïc Tanzi saying that a departure of Genesio from Olympique de Marseille cannot be ruled out in the coming weeks. Such speculation fuels the debate over whether he would become available for a Lens appointment.
Shana Mendes, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, backs RC Lens after LOSC
Genesio, the former LOSC manager, has expressed feeling somewhat cheated by unkept promises from Marseille’s hierarchy. He hinted privately that a resignation could be considered if the club’s results do not improve, adding another layer of uncertainty to his future.
