Family pride and a new contract: Pupi Zanetti’s son signs with Inter
While the Zanetti family revels in a fresh source of pride, 14‑year‑old Tomás Zanetti takes a professional step forward, signing a two‑year contract with Inter of Milán and cementing his place in the club’s Sub 15 squad.
The announcement came from Javier Zanetti, the former Argentine international now vice‑president of Inter, who appeared alongside his wife Paula de la Fuente. Together they stood beside their son, affectionately called Toto, as he put pen to paper on his first professional agreement.
Both parents addressed their teenage son with heartfelt words, emphasizing support and resilience.
“Hoy das un paso más hacia tus sueños. Siempre estaremos a tu lado, intentando protegerte, acompañarte y apoyarte en cada paso.”
Tomás responded with enthusiasm, posting on Instagram:
“Feliz y orgulloso de poder vestir los colores con los que he soñado siempre. ¡Fuerza, Inter!”He also noted that he will wear the number 4 shirt, the same number his father Javier wore throughout his illustrious career.
Contract details and youth role
The two‑year deal guarantees Tomás a continued presence in the Neroazzurro, where he currently competes as a midfielder in the Sub 15 category. His progression follows five years in the Inter Academy, culminating in this formal professional step.
In a June 2024 interview with the Spanish daily AS, Pupi Zanetti highlighted his son’s character, saying, “Mi hijo es un apasionado del fútbol. Le gusta ordenar con sus compañeros, levanta el ánimo y tiene esas características.” He added, “Sufro más en la tribuna como padre cuando lo veo jugar que cuando yo estaba en el campo. Mi consejo es que disfrute.”
Future outlook and personal reflections
Tomás reflected on leaving the Academy, thanking teammates, coaches, and the club’s director Jacky for their guidance. He praised the brotherhood forged during the season and pledged lifelong support for Inter.
His father Javier concluded the family’s tribute with a simple yet powerful statement: “Te amo, Totito.” The public messages underscore a united front as the young midfielder embarks on the next chapter of his football journey.
