Fabrizio Romano says Barcelona talks with United teen remain indirect

Fabrizio Romano clarified on his YouTube channel that the widely reported direct talks between 15‑year‑old JJ Gabriel Man Utd and Barcelona have not taken place, confirming that only the player's representatives are in discussions with the Spanish club. The Manchester United youngster, who earlier this week asked to leave the Red Devils, remains in limbo as clubs assess his future.

The 15‑year‑old is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects Manchester United have ever produced, and losing the youngster would be a bitter pill to swallow. His camp formally requested an exit from the Red Devils earlier this week, sparking intense speculation.

Spanish giants vie for United prodigy

A lengthy list of clubs have been linked with Gabriel, but the most plausible destination appears to be Spain. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have held discussions about his arrival, and interest from England’s rivals remains strong. The Spanish clubs see the teenager as a long‑term investment for their academies.

Reports surfaced claiming the player and his representatives had travelled to Barcelona for direct talks with Hansi Flick’s side. Romano’s latest update, posted on his YouTube channel, refutes that claim, stating the player himself has not been to Barcelona.

Romano details the nature of the negotiations

“My information is that JJ Gabriel has not held direct talks with Barcelona in person,” Romano declared. He added, “The camp of JJ Gabriel are having conversations with clubs. It is not that the player is flying to Barcelona to negotiate personally.”

United face a difficult decision, as the teenager waits to understand which club offers the best solution for his future. Should a Spanish move materialise, the Red Devils would lose a player many consider a future star.

Romano promised further updates in the coming days, noting that the situation has not yet reached the stage where Gabriel would travel to finalise a deal. The negotiations remain at the camp level for now.
