Fabregas wants lightness but aims for the Champions of Como

Eve of a dream night, tomorrow Como, led by Cesc Fabregas, will face RB Leipzig in its first appearance in the Champions League, a dream night for the Larians. The coach emphasized at the press conference that the team must not be carried away by emotion, but aim for victory.

Fabregas' message

Fabregas answered the question about lightness, stating “I hope not, I want the boys to go onto the pitch thinking they can win, like when we arrived in Serie B”. He reiterated that the mindset must be to treat the match as a normal football contest.

The coach recalled his experience as a player in the Champions, noting that “life passes very quickly, it feels like 50 years have gone by”. He warned that in Europe the quality is high and a mistake can cost a lot.

During the conference he dedicated a thought to Roberta Picchi, a women's football player, stating “We are a family, we send her a big hug”. The club extended her contract by one year to support her in the fight against breast cancer.

Fabregas recalled the recent results in Serie A: after a 1-1 draw against Udinese, Como beat Napoli and Genoa, showing good form before the European clash.

Details of the clash against Leipzig

The match will be played at the Sinigaglia Stadium on Thursday, with kickoff at 20:00 UK time (21:00 Central European Time). Renovation works were completed this summer to meet UEFA requirements.

Fabregas acknowledged Leipzig's strength, a club accustomed to these settings, which built its identity from scratch 20 years ago. He emphasized the need to show personality to compete.

The coach admitted that the odds of winning might be around 20-30 percent, but he asked to extract 100 percent from that margin. He also stated that the starting lineup will be chosen based on who can help win, not on experience, citing players with 100 Champions matches who have made mistakes.
