Fabregas praises Arsenal’s plan ahead of Premier League defence

Cesc Fabregas says Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will always ‘stick to the plan’, praising the club’s hierarchy for its patience as the Gunners prepare to defend the Premier League title. He returned on Wednesday with his Como side for a 1‑1 draw at the Emirates Stadium before a penalty shoot‑out.

Fabregas lauds Arsenal’s stability

Fabregas believes the players will always follow the plan set by Arteta and commends the hierarchy for showing patience towards the manager. He added that the squad is fully behind Mikel Arteta ahead of the Premier League title defence. “Congratulations to the club in general starting from seven, eight years ago when they first started with this project,” Fabregas said.

Friendly draw and upcoming showdown

On Wednesday, Fabregas’ Como side faced Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and the match ended 1‑1. The Gunners later prevailed in a penalty shoot‑out. The friendly gave Fabregas a chance to observe the squad ahead of the new season.

Arsenal will meet Manchester City in the Community Shield this Sunday, providing the first competitive test for both clubs before the league campaign.

The Gunners begin their Premier League title defence at home to Coventry City on 21 August, following the Community Shield clash.

Fabregas made 303 appearances for Arsenal during his previous spell. He said Como are trying to emulate traits shown by the Gunners in recent years. He highlighted the club’s stability, values and culture as a model.

“Because what you see in football every day, what Arsenal did, especially in the difficult moments, it doesn’t exist. I told Edu, I told Andrea (Berta) when I came last year to a Champions League game, I said congratulations to the whole club for the patience, for sticking together, for sticking to the plan when for three years in a row, correct me if I’m wrong, finished eighth, eighth, eighth, fourth year nearly Champions League, it was a big disappointment, Tottenham came, you finish fifth, but you keep going because you have a plan, because you have an objective, because you have progression, you keep going forward. We lack this in football today. You lose three games, change the coach, he was playing one style, now you play another, at the end of the day I don’t believe in this a lot.”

Fabregas added that he feels lucky to be part of a project that values stability. “I’m super happy to come back here and smell this feeling,” he concluded.
