Fabregas insists Como's Champions debut is just another match
Cesc Fabregas, the newly appointed manager of Como, told a press conference on Wednesday that the club’s historic Champions League debut against Leipzig tomorrow will be “just another match” and that he will not prepare a speech, preferring to let his ideas come from within.
Historic Champions League debut
It is the first time Como will appear in the Champions League and the first time the club will host a match at the renovated Sinigaglia stadium, which has been upgraded to meet UEFA regulations.
Fabregas also used the opportunity to send a message to striker Roberta Picchi, saying, “First of all I would like to send a message of strength to our player Roberta Picchi. We are a family, we give her a big hug. We are with her.”
Assistant coach Da Cunha added that the occasion is “the first Champions game, I am very happy. I come from Serie B, I am honoured to play in the Champions.” He stressed that the squad feels calm and ready for the competition.

Fabregas' approach to the match
When asked how he will choose his line‑up, Fabregas replied that he will pick the players who help him reach the objective of victory, not those with the most experience, noting that “two minutes before the meeting I may still have to make a choice.”
He also highlighted the importance of playing at home, describing the stadium as “incredible” and confirming that the team has been preparing to give a strong performance on their own ground.
