Fàbregas defends his project at Como against the Champions League test

Cesc Fàbregas, coach of Como 1907, explained at the Festival dello Sport that his project continues to grow and that this season faces the huge challenge of the Champions League. In his remarks, the former player from Arenys de Mar emphasized that, if he loses, he wants to lose in his own way, always preparing a match to play in the club’s style.

A philosophy based on development

Fàbregas defended his way of understanding football and recalled why he decided to stay in Italy despite offers, including that from Inter. He noted that his true trophies are the growth of youngsters such as Da Cunha and cited Nico Paz as another example of his commitment to the youth academy.

The coach also talked about his learning, admitting that he still feels “like a young player on the bench” and that he admires Arsène Wenger, with whom he regularly talks.

Challenges and ambitions this season

The Catalan manager highlighted that Como is facing an unprecedented season, with three matches per week and the added demand of the Champions League. He assured that he does not feel the need to abandon the project or the identity they are building.

During the talk, Mancini remarked that Moise Kean is not well and must return home, while Tuchel stated that Gordon has reached another level. Fàbregas, for his part, expressed his desire to receive advice from Gian Piero Gasperini, his upcoming opponent, and added: “I would love for someone like him, after the match, to come and tell me I did something wrong and want to talk with me. For me, it would be a real treasure.”

On the bench, Fàbregas led Como in the Gamper contested at the Johan Cruyff Pep Morata, making clear that his success is not measured solely by trophies, but by the consolidation of a distinct style and the development of Italian players in the academy.
