FA chairman demands probe into Infantino’s World Cup plans
England’s Football Association chairman Debbie Hewitt has asked for an investigation into FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s alleged misconduct, sending letters to Infantino and FIFA secretary‑general Mattias Grafström that demand the release of all documents on the World Cup selling plan and an explanation of the ‘Balogun incident’, the Sun reported on the 17th.
The letters allege that Infantino is considering a new company, FIFA Forward Enterprise, to manage World Cup rights, and they question why US forward Forlin Balogun’s disciplinary sanction was reportedly softened after alleged involvement by former US president Donald Trump.
The 2026 World Cup, held this summer, saw Spain claim their second title since 2010. Hewitt said the FA wants the paperwork before next month’s FIFA council meeting, while Infantino, despite mounting criticism, has signalled his intention to stand for re‑election in March.
