Europa Cup: VfL Wolfsburg face Feyenoord Rotterdam in the round of 16

In the round of 16 of the Europa Cup, the women's Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg faces Feyernoord Rotterdam. The draw took place on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland. Wolfsburg has home advantage for the first leg. This marks the start of the second phase of the competition for the German and Dutch teams.

Schedule and Qualification

In the qualification round, Wolfsburg overcame Sturm Graz. The round of 16 between VfL Wolfsburg and Feyenoord Rotterdam will be played on 28/29 October and on 10/11 November, with the first leg taking place in Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg's director Vanessa Bernauer emphasized: “Against Rotterdam we have an exciting opponent and certainly one of the stronger teams.” She added: “Now our full focus is, however, first and foremost on the round of 16 against Rotterdam.”

Bundesliga rival Eintracht Frankfurt meets PSV Eindhoven in the same round of 16, also a Dutch team. A duel between the two German clubs could only take place in the final.

If Wolfsburg wins the match against Rotterdam, the quarter‑final will feature a clash with either Rosenborg Trondheim or Bröndby IF. Both opponents are also in contention for progression.

The Europa Cup, like all cups, is contested over two legs in each round, including the final. This keeps the tournament exciting throughout the season.

After a 6‑1 first‑leg win in the second qualification round against the Austrian side, Wolfsburg is only aiming for the basics in the second leg. The women's team is still considered the favorite in the upcoming Bundesliga match on Sunday.
