Etihad Airways threatens legal challenge over Premier League verdict
Etihad Airways, Manchester City's principal shirt sponsor since 2009, is weighing legal action against the Premier League after an independent commission released a core decision detailing more than 100 financial rule breaches by the club. The airline said it will challenge the findings.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Etihad said it “categorically rejects” the guilty verdicts handed down by the independent commission. The airline argued the findings have damaging implications for its brand, even though Manchester City was not named in the report.
Etihad has been Manchester City's principal shirt sponsor since 2009 and remains the club's main commercial partner.
