Eredivisie ranks third in Europe for stadium attendance

While supporters in the Netherlands are daily left waiting in the hunt for a ticket for their favourite Eredivisie club, a UEFA report shows that Dutch stadiums are exceptionally full, with an average occupancy rate of 93 % last season in the competition.

The UEFA analysis places the Eredivisie in third place in Europe in terms of stadium occupancy. Only England and Germany rank higher.

In the Premier League the occupancy rate was 95 %, while the Bundesliga recorded an average of 97 %.

The report excludes stadiums that were (partially) closed due to sanctions. For example, the Johan Cruijff Arena remained completely closed during the match between Ajax and FC Groningen. Without those restrictions, all Eredivisie matches would always have been well attended and often sold out.

Fans search day after day for tickets, and you are probably not the only one. The huge demand underlines the popularity of the competition.

France and Spain achieve around eighty percent, Italy 77 % and Belgium only 56 % in the First Division.
