Enrique praises Godts after a decisive contribution at PSG

Luis Enrique, PSG‑coach, publicly expressed his confidence in the 21‑year‑old Belgian winger Mika Godts on Monday evening, after the young substitute scored a goal and provided an assist in Paris Saint‑Germain's 2‑0 victory over Olympique Lyon. The coach also praised his effort and technical qualities.

Godts came onto the pitch as a substitute and immediately took on a leading role. His goal came from a quick attack, after which he later delivered a cross that produced the second strike. The contribution highlighted his dribbling ability and sharpness.

"Mika is an ambitious player with many qualities," the PSG coach told Le Figaro. "He is only 21 years old. That says a lot about his personality," Enrique added. He emphasized that Godts started the season full of enthusiasm and was dribbling past opponents early on.

Contract and future plans

Enrique confirmed that PSG has secured Godts until the summer of 2031. "We have confidence in him and want him to stay calm and composed," he said. He hopes that the first goal helps Godts regain that calmness and expects to see much more from him.

The coach also explained that the competition within the squad is fierce, meaning Godts will for now mainly have to rely on substitute appearances. "It's difficult to talk to a player who doesn't play," Enrique said. "Many deserve to play, but the competition is fierce. The players who play regularly know this. If they get distracted, there are plenty of players behind them."
