Emotional farewell: Allan leaves Palmeiras for Manchester City

Allan, the Palmeiras forward, said goodbye to the club’s supporters before boarding for England, where he will sign a five‑season contract with Manchester City. The ceremony took place on the pitch of Nubank Parque before the Copa do Brasil clash with Santos on Wednesday.

Tribute on the field

President Leila Pereira and academy coordinator João Paulo Sampaio presented Allan with a commemorative plaque, and the crowd gave him a standing ovation. The club’s social media post urged fans to add the ge to their favourite sources on Google.

“My heart is heavy; I arrived at the club at 14 and leave at 22. It feels like a lifetime here, and I was very happy at Palmeiras, a club I learned to love with my soul,” Allan said, his voice trembling with emotion.

Transfer details and career highlights

Manchester City will pay €40 million, roughly R$ 240 million, for the striker, with €37.5 million guaranteed and €2.5 million in performance bonuses.

Allan has featured in 96 professional matches for Palmeiras, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists, and he lifted two Campeonato Paulista titles in 2024 and 2026.

He added, “I will take every piece of this club with me. It is very rewarding. My story is complicated, but it does not compare to my parents, who quit their jobs and went without food to feed my brother and me.”

Initially, Allan was scheduled to travel to Manchester on Wednesday, but the club postponed his departure to allow the tribute to take place.

Having risen through the Palmeiras academy, Allan’s gratitude to the club and its supporters was evident throughout the ceremony.

With the transfer confirmed, Allan prepares to join Manchester City in England, embarking on the next chapter of his career after eight years at Palmeiras.
