Emile Heskey sees chances for Bayern in a possible Rio Ngumoha move
FC Bayern Munich is said to have extended its overtures towards Rio Ngumoha of FC Liverpool, which, according to an English legend, is causing displeasure. Emile Heskey, former English national striker, nevertheless gives the Bavarian club chances.
Heskey's arguments for Bayern
Heskey based his assessment on the radiance of the Munich squad and the successful development of other English professionals in Germany. He cited examples such as Harry Kane and Michael Olise, who have found their way to Bayern, as well as the brothers Jude and Jobe Bellingham, who have broken through at Borussia Dortmund.
The 48‑year‑old former striker told the portal Rekatochklart: „There will always be a certain allure when clubs like Arsenal knock, and especially with Bayern. At Bayern you can basically only be successful.“
Ngumoha, an 18‑year‑old left winger, made 19 league appearances for the Reds last season and scored two goals. In the current season he has not yet scored, but was nominated for the first time by England’s national coach Thomas Tuchel shortly before the World Cup and made his second appearance against the Czech Republic.
Heskey sees a need for development: „He is a fantastic dribbler, but now he really has to focus on his efficiency in the final third – on goals, assists and his contribution to the team.“
An immediate departure from Liverpool is unlikely, as Ngumoha is contractually bound until 2028. Heskey says the young player wants to establish himself at Liverpool first, but could receive temptations in the future.
