Embarrassing' Pozzo family urged to leave Watford FC
Watford FC have been thrust into the spotlight as fans label the Pozzo family’s stewardship "Embarrassing'" and demand they step aside, just as the club embarks on its fifth straight Championship season under new head coach Alessio Dionisi.
New coach tasked with ending turnover
Dionisi, appointed in the summer, inherits a club that has endured four managerial changes this calendar year, with Javi Gracia, Charlie Daniels and Ed Still all having overseen games. The Italian aims to break the pattern of short stints and lift the Hornets from the 16th‑place finish that left them 16 points off the play‑off spots and 10 clear of relegation.
Fan pundit calls for ownership overhaul
Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie told Football League World that the biggest change needed is “the owners”. He said the Pozzo family have “exceeded their welcome” and that their hiring and firing of managers is “just embarrassing”. Beattie added that the transfer window has become a “raid on the lost‑property department of Udinese”.
The Pozzo family have overseen seven signings this summer, five of which arrived from their Serie A side Udinese. Sam Walker and goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia are the only non‑Udinese arrivals, while Jordan Zemura joins on loan from the Italian club.
Former West Ham forward Michail Antonio is currently training with Watford, hoping to secure a return to English football. Meanwhile, Morocco international Othmane Maamma, who scored four goals and provided one assist in 25 Championship appearances last season, is expected to be a key figure under Dionisi.
Supporters worry that without a robust, Championship‑proven spine, the Hornets could slip into a relegation battle. Beattie warned that “most pundits see us lower‑table or even in the drop zone” because of chaotic management changes and unsuitable signings.
