Eintracht Frankfurt reach for Club Brugge's Onyedika
€9 million is the initial fee Eintracht Frankfurt will pay to secure Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge. The 25‑year‑old defensive midfielder is being brought in as the Bundesliga side look to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new season.
The agreement ends weeks of speculation about Onyedika’s future after the club confirmed the deal with Club Brugge. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Bundesliga club have sealed the deal with the Belgian side.
The package includes performance‑related add‑ons on top of the €9 million base fee. Onyedika is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before signing a long‑term contract that runs until 2031 at Deutsche Bank Park.
Onyedika missed Club Brugge’s Belgian Super Cup clash against Union Saint‑Gilloise after being ruled out with illness, a fact confirmed by the club on Friday. The illness prevented him from featuring in the trophy match.
He joined Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2022 and quickly became a key performer. During his time in Belgium he helped win two Belgian Pro League titles, the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup.
The move represents the next step in the Super Eagles star’s career, giving him his first taste of Bundesliga football. Frankfurt’s investment underlines their intent to bolster the squad as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
