Eintracht Frankfurt cuts flop Batshuayi as he heads for the desert
Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt, ending a flop spell that saw him fail to establish himself, as he heads for the Wüste of Saudi Arabia after roughly one and a half years on the Main. The 32‑year‑old departs without having secured a regular spot.
The Belgian forward was signed in February 2025 as a Last‑Minute‑Ersatz for the departed Omar Marmoush. Der 32‑year‑old Belgier never managed to cement a place in the Hessen side. His arrival was intended to bolster the attack, but he saw limited opportunities.
Playing time never materialised
During his roughly one and a half Jahren on the Main, Batshuayi recorded only 484 minutes of action and failed to log a single Pflichtspielminute this Jahr because of injury. He was earmarked for a Sommer off‑load, and the club sought an Abnehmer. The minimal involvement cemented his reputation as a flop at the club.
Batshuayi’s contract with Eintracht Frankfurt originally ran until 2027, and reports suggest he earned around three million euros per year. In his limited minutes he still managed to find the net four times. With no future sporting role, the club welcomed the chance to remove his wages from the payroll.
Transfer to Saudi Arabia confirmed
The Ex‑Dortmunder completed a free Wechsel to Saudi‑Arabien Club Abha, with both Vereine confirming the move on Monday. The free nature of the deal means no transfer fee was paid. The Abha Club will register the Belgian striker immediately, and the Zug was described as a swift solution for both parties. The Ex player will now represent the Saudi side.
A tweet from Eintracht Frankfurt wished Michy all the best for his future. The transfer was announced without further financial details.
