EFL clash at Kenilworth Road halts play as Jordan Clark hospitalized

In an EFL League One clash at Kenilworth Road, Luton Town’s Jordan Clark was stretchered off after a horrifying clash of heads nine minutes into the Saturday lunchtime fixture, prompting an eight‑minute suspension while medics attended the injured midfielder player.

Early minutes set the stage

Both Luton midfielder Jordan Clark and Notts County defender Darius Lipsiuc leapt to head a cross from Emilio Lawrence, but the ensuing collision sent shockwaves through the crowd. James Belshaw, the Notts County goalkeeper, managed to keep the ball out of his net despite the chaos. Getty images captured the moment as the clash unfolded.

Paramedics arrived swiftly, treating the 32‑year‑old Clark on the pitch before lifting him onto a stretcher. He was taken to hospital as a precaution, while club officials later confirmed he remained responsive and was speaking with medical staff.

Hatters’ boss Jack Wilshere introduced a replacement as the game resumed, and both sets of players gathered around Clark in concern. Lipsiuc also underwent assessment after the challenge but was cleared to continue. Belshaw’s save highlighted the lingering tension after the incident.

The match later blossomed into a lively 2‑2 draw. Nakhi Wells put Luton ahead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute, Callum Roberts equalised for Notts County, Oliver Cooper gave the Magpies the lead on the hour, and Callum Marshall levelled eight minutes later.

Notts County posted a message on X wishing Clark a speedy recovery and confirming Lipsiuc was fit to carry on. The club expressed solidarity with the injured Luton player.

The result leaves both clubs unbeaten after two games. Luton provisionally sit second in the League One table ahead of Saturday’s 3 pm kick‑offs, while Notts County sit ninth after two consecutive draws.
