Ebnoutalib close to first national team call-up, Undav must step aside

The 23‑year‑old Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib is close to his first nomination for the German senior national team. In a TikTok clip he thanks a fan for the congratulations, gives a thumbs‑up and says he is looking forward to “everything” as soon as Jürgen Klopp’s squad list is published on Thursday.

A media report points out that Klopp, in his first DFB squad announcement on Thursday, wants to include Jonathan Burkardt from Eintracht alongside Ebnoutalib in the roster. Both would thus be nominated for the German senior team for the first time.

First nomination by Klopp

Being selected for the DFB team would be a historic milestone for the Frankfurt player, as he has only played in the Bundesliga so far. If he wears the national team jersey, it would be his first call‑up.

In the current Bundesliga season, Ebnoutalib has scored four goals and provided two assists in four appearances. This strike rate underlines his form and justifies the national coach’s attention.

The striker holds Moroccan citizenship in addition to German, as his father is Moroccan. It was reported that Morocco national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi had already made contact with him at the beginning of the season.

Undav drops out of the squad

At the same time, VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav is set to be omitted from the selection during the upcoming international break, creating space for the two Frankfurt players.

In an SGE match against Union Berlin, Ebnoutalib scored a hat‑trick while the Moroccan national coach watched from the stands. This demonstrated Morocco’s continued interest in the young forward.

In the TikTok video, which shows several fans in a shopping centre, a supporter shouted: “Younes, congratulations on the nomination.” Ebnoutalib replied with a grin, gave a thumbs‑up and answered the question about his anticipation simply with “Everything.”
