Early interest versus concrete offer: Tottenham eye Villarreal striker

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly watching Georgian forward Georges Mikautadze while, at the same time, no formal bid has been tabled for the Villarreal attacker. The club’s early scouting sits opposite a lack of concrete negotiations as the transfer window draws to a close.

According to Spurs insider Paul O'Keefe, the English club has placed Mikautadze on its shortlist of players to consider before the end of the transfer period. O'Keefe says the interest is still in an early stage and that no offer or advanced talks have been reported.

Mikautadze joined FC Villarreal in 2025 and is under a long‑term contract with the Spanish side. The striker’s deal means any move would require Villarreal’s agreement.

In his debut season in La Liga, the attacker recorded 13 goals and supplied six assists across 32 league appearances. Those statistics underline his impact in Spain’s top flight.

Before arriving in Spain, Mikautadze featured for Ajax Amsterdam, FC Metz and Olympique Lyon, adding experience in several European leagues. His club career therefore spans the Dutch, French and Spanish competitions.

On the international stage, the Georgian forward has been successful for his national team, scoring three goals at Euro 2024 and ranking among the tournament’s top scorers.

Tottenham must decide whether to move beyond the shortlist before the transfer window ends, as the club’s interest remains tentative and no formal contract discussions have emerged.

The contrast between early scouting and the absence of a firm offer highlights Tottenham’s cautious approach despite Mikautadze’s proven record, leaving the next steps of the potential transfer uncertain.
