Durham boost midfield with Australian veteran Rachel Lowe

Durham have completed the signing of Australian midfielder Rachel Lowe, a 25‑year‑old, who arrives at Maiden Castle after a decade in Australia. The Wildcats announced the deal on their official website earlier today, confirming their third summer acquisition as they aim to bolster the midfield ahead of the new season.

Durham’s recruitment drive aims to deepen the squad ahead of the upcoming season, and the addition of a player with extensive domestic experience fits that plan. The signing marks the third addition to the squad during the summer window.

Lowe began her career with Western Sydney Wanderers. She later played for Sydney FC, Sydney University and Sydney Olympic.

In 2023 she joined Melbourne Victory. She spent the last three years playing at AAMI Park.

Lowe has been capped by Australia once. The solitary appearance came in 2018.

“It’s nice to finally be here. I’ve had a warm welcome, all the girls are really friendly and I’ve had my first session – so I’m feeling good,” Lowe said. She added that ten years in the A‑League prepared her for a new challenge in the increasingly competitive BWSL2.

Lowe becomes Durham’s third signing of the summer transfer window and will begin training with the squad ahead of the upcoming season. The Wildcats expect her experience to contribute to a strong campaign for the club.
