Driessen claims Koeman ignored Seedorf throughout World Cup
In a startling disclosure on the recent WK’, journalist Valentijn Driessen alleges that Ronald Koeman and Clarence Seedorf had no contact whatsoever during the WK”. The claim targets the leadership of the KNVB and the Dutch Oranje squad. Valentijn Driessen states that the two figures completely ignored each other at the end of the tournament. He emphasizes that the lack of communication was “totally ridiculous” and reflects a broader failure within the KNVB.
“What I find remarkable is that Clarence Seedorf simply had no contact with Ronald Koeman during the World Cup,” Driessen says at the start of Kick‑off. “He was at the match against Marokko, yet they never spoke.”
The journalist adds that “you have to pull the same rope, but they simply ignored each other there.” He criticises the current KNVB leadership for “so terribly lacking” communication with everyone they approach and employ.
Oranje were eliminated in the round of 16 at the World Cup, losing to Marokko. The defeat marked the end of their campaign and sparked intense scrutiny of the coaching staff.
Following the loss, Ronald Koeman announced his departure as the national coach. His exit closed a turbulent chapter for the Dutch side.
It is now confirmed that Xavi Hernández will succeed Koeman, mirroring the transition that occurred after Koeman’s tenure at FC Barcelona. The appointment signals a new direction for the Oranje.
