Domenico Tedesco’s turbulent start at Bologna amid heavy defeat

Domenico Tedesco was dismissed by Fenerbahçe in April after a derby loss to Galatasaray that the club said could not be forgiven.

Just over a month later the former Belgium national team coach took charge of Bologna, expressing great enthusiasm about coaching in the country of his birth.

His first appearance on the bench came on Saturday when Bologna, eighth in the previous Serie A season, faced German second‑division side Arminia Bielefeld in a training match. The visitors led 0‑3 at the break and extended the lead to 0‑4 by full‑time.

The Bologna squad is valued at €258 million, a figure the club notes exceeds the combined worth of Union and Anderlecht.

According to the coaching staff, there remains more than a month to ready the team for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
