Does Leeds United see a fit for Yunus Musah under Farke?

Does Leeds United see a fit for Yunus Musah under Farke?

Leeds United have made an exploratory enquiry about 23‑year‑old American midfielder Yunus Musah Does, contacting both his representatives and the Italian giants AC Milan directly, according to a Transfer Feed report. The West Yorkshire club, based at Elland Road, has not submitted a formal bid. The enquiry marks the first public sign of interest from the club.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke’s system has recently shifted from a 4‑3‑3 to variations of a 3‑5‑2 and 3‑4‑3, with a possible return to a back four hinted. Existing midfielders Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka and Brenden Aaronson already cover box‑to‑box duties, and the recent arrival of Harry Wilson adds further depth. These factors leave limited scope for a player with Musah’s profile, prompting the club to assess whether he fits the evolving tactical set‑up.

Musah returned to AC Milan after a loan spell at Atalanta that concluded on 30 June 2026. During the 2025‑26 season he made 19 Serie A appearances for Atalanta, scoring once, and added a single appearance for Milan after his loan ended. He recorded a 6.6 average FotMob rating and registered no league assists.

Transfermarkt values the midfielder at €14 million, while other valuation models place him between €21.7 million and €26.5 million, highlighting a wide disparity in perceived worth.

AC Milan have indicated they see no immediate reason to part with the 23‑year‑old, and their new technical staff prefer to assess Musah further before entertaining any offers. No formal bid has been submitted by Leeds, and the Italian club has not opened negotiations.

Unless AC Milan reduce their asking price, a transfer appears highly improbable, meaning Leeds will likely continue scouting alternative midfield solutions. The club’s interest remains exploratory, and any future move will depend on both price and tactical fit.

With the midfield already staffed by Ampadu, Tanaka, Aaronson and Wilson, Leeds’ pursuit of Musah underscores the need for a player who can adapt to multiple formations while offering a different skill set.
