Deschamps accused of blood on his hands after a supporter’s complaint
A Barcelona supporter said that Didier Deschamps has blood on his hands, accusing him of having repeated the same mistake that precipitated Samuel Umtiti's downfall, by pushing Aurélien Tchouameni to play injured during the last World Cup.
Aurélien Tchouameni will pay a heavy price in the coming weeks after a long convalescence. Injured in the knee at the start of the season, the French midfielder had been made available to Real Madrid by Zinedine Zidane despite his return to competition.
"Aurélien, he's a player who was sidelined for almost two months, he has 180 minutes," explained the new manager, former Ballon d'Or winner. He added that, for his recovery process, it was preferable that he stay in Madrid and continue to prepare.
Player's testimony on the World Cup
The midfielder revealed that he felt pain as early as the third or fourth match of the World Cup, but kept playing. He said he took risks that he might not have taken at another time, without regret.
Didier Deschamps blamed for Tchouameni’s fate in Madrid
He specified that players understand that sometimes circumstances demand giving everything, and that he paid the price afterwards. Facing the defeat against Spain, he asserted: "No, obviously, that wasn't the real Aurélien Tchouameni".
Supporter's reaction and accusations against the manager
A supporter shouted: "Didier Deschamps has blood on his hands", reproaching the manager for having repeated the same mistake that destroyed Samuel Umtiti's career in 2018. He described this attitude as irresponsible, disrespectful and abject, stating that the players are treated like livestock.
Umtiti's case, who played injured during the 2018 World Cup, saw his knee never truly heal, hastening the end of his career at thirty.
Tchouameni's remarks and the supporter’s reaction have reignited the debate over injury management by the French staff, without Didier Deschamps having spoken publicly on the matter.
