Deportivo condemns violent clashes in Italy after fan brawl

A massive brawl erupted between ultras of Dépor and Genoa in the Plaza delle Erbe of Génova, Italia, prompting the club to issue a firm and absolute condemnation on Saturday. The incident highlighted a stark contrast between fan aggression and the club’s official stance.

The multitudinaria pelea involved supporters of both clubs and was captured by XEFE, with the image labelled Genoa.Captura. It unfolded in the historic Plaza delle Erbe, a central square in the Italian city of Génova.

The report was updated on 08/08/2026 at 19:25 CEST, providing a precise timestamp for the unfolding events and the club’s response.

“Ante las informaciones difundidas en las últimas horas sobre los incidentes ocurridos en Génova, en los que se habrían visto involucrados un grupo de individuos desplazados a la ciudad con motivo del encuentro disputado por el RC Deportivo, el Club quiere manifestar su condena firme y absoluta de cualquier acto de violencia, intimidación o alteración del orden público,” the club’s statement read.

The club emphasized that such behaviour does not represent the values of Deportivo nor deportivismo, and it runs counter to the principles of respect, coexistence and responsibility that the institution defends inside and outside stadiums.

El Deportivo indicated that it is gathering information about the incident and will remain in contact with authorities and competent bodies to contribute to clarifying the facts.

Should the participation of individuals linked to the RC Deportivo environment be confirmed, the club will, within the framework of legality and its competencies, consider adopting the appropriate measures.

The juxtaposition of a violent street clash with a measured, principled response underscores the club’s commitment to uphold its values while cooperating with officials to address the disturbance.
