Demirovic lets Viking Stavanger beat VfB Stuttgart in twelve minutes

During the Champions‑League‑group stage, VfB Stuttgart faced Viking Stavanger in Stuttgart on 09.09.2026. Ermedin Demirovic decided the match already after twelve minutes, when he scored the first goal for a 1‑0 lead, laying the foundation for the eventual 3‑1 victory.

The official post‑match report, published in the info‑ticker, listed the line‑up, table and team statistics of all games and highlighted that Stuttgart started with a Blitz‑triple‑pack. As of: 09.09.2026. The striker Demirovic scored in the 20th, 26th and 32nd minute, while Zlatko Tripic gave the Norwegians an equaliser in the 22nd minute.

On the occasion of the club’s 133rd birthday, a festive atmosphere already prevailed in Stuttgart before kickoff – and especially Demirovic presented himself as the fire‑starter of the party.

Blitz‑triple‑pack decides early match

For the 1‑0, Stuttgart combined down the left flank; Angelo Stiller played a low ball into the centre, Demirovic finished with a chip to the lower crossbar in the 20th minute. A blitz of three goals followed, as he, after a dream pass from Deniz Undav, scored again in the 26th minute and finally netted the third goal with a volley in the 32nd minute.

After Tripic’s equaliser in the 22nd minute, another pass followed that enabled Demirovic to score the third goal. Viking goalkeeper Arild Östbö did not put in a good performance, while Stuttgart unleashed an offensive fireworks display for large parts of the first half.

In the second half Stuttgart produced few chances; coach Sebastian Hoeneß focused on maintaining the lead, while Deniz Undav scored the final goal in the 94th minute. VfB therefore continues into the next Champions‑League‑group stage on October 14 against Slovan Bratislava.
