Deadline looms for match‑day switch request for 2027/28 season

Deadline looms for match‑day switch request for 2027/28 season

Clubs that wish to move a standard team to a different match day for the 2027/28 season must submit an Aanvraag to the KNVB by 14 September 2026. The deadline applies to both men’s and women’s category A teams and is communicated via the KNVB’s official contact address.

The request can be made without affecting the competitive level at which the team currently plays. The level achieved in the 2026/27 season is carried over to the new match day for 2027/28.

Submissions are to be sent by e‑mail to contact@knvb.nl. Any request received after Monday 14 September 2026 will not be processed, and once filed the request is irrevocable.

The deadline is placed before the start of the final season on the old match day to prevent clubs from basing decisions on current league positions or results.

If a club already has another standard team on the new match day, only the highest‑placed team will remain after the switch unless the club also asks for the lower‑placed team to move. In that case the lower‑placed team is allocated to the opposite day.

For example, a club with a men’s standard team playing in the third division on Sunday cannot switch if it also fields a team in the third class on Saturday. The switch becomes possible if the Saturday team moves to Sunday or is withdrawn.

The same principle applies to women’s football: a club may not have two first‑teams on the same day, but a first‑team (VR1) and a second‑team (VR2) can coexist on the same match day.

In the mixed Saturday/Sunday competitions covering the second division down to the third class, a change of match day can alter the day and possibly the time of home fixtures. When fixtures are scheduled, the home club’s preferred day is taken as the baseline, with an exception for clubs that only play on Saturday – they will host both home and away games on Saturday.

Het lukt niet om de pagina die je zocht op KNVB.nl te laden. Op dit moment is de website in onderhoudsmodus. Probeer het later nog eens. De website provides the form for the Aanvraag, and clubs are reminded to act before the Op deadline.

FC clubs and other organisations are encouraged to review the detailed rules to ensure compliance with the new schedule.
