De Bruyne on break with Napoli: negotiations stall

Kevin De Bruyne appears to be making a break with Napoli at the end of the season, because contract negotiations according to transfer expert Nicolò Schira are stuck. The Belgian midfielder still has a contract until the end of the season, with an option for one extra year, but both parties cannot reach an agreement.

Schira reports that talks with the club are at an impasse and that the ‘marriage’ between De Bruyne and Napoli will probably end next summer. Although negotiations for a new contract are still ongoing, the process is not progressing smoothly.

De Bruyne arrived in the 2025 transfer summer on a free transfer from Manchester City to Napoli. Since then he has played 27 matches, provided five assists and scored six times.

Before leaving Manchester City, De Bruyne recorded 422 appearances, 108 goals and 177 assists. Under new head coach Massimiliano Allegri, Napoli have had a modest start: of five Serie A matches, two have been won, two lost and one drawn, leaving the club in ninth place during the international break.

This season De Bruyne has contributed one goal and one assist in Serie A. With the current situation, a summer transfer seems inevitable.
