David Storch hails Sheffield Wednesday’s new era after cup win

At Hillsborough, David Storch celebrated Sheffield Wednesday’s 1‑0 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers, posting a jubilant message that the club had “a great start to a new era.” The victory, secured by Jamal Lowe’s second‑half strike, marked the Owls’ first competitive match since their relegation to League One.

Storch, whose Arise Capital Partners consortium completed the takeover of Sheffield Wednesday in May, announced the message on social media. The new ownership aims to steer the club away from the financial and sporting turmoil that plagued the previous season.

During the summer the club reverted to a modernised version of its traditional owl badge. Renovations were also carried out at Hillsborough and at the Middlewood Road training ground.

Manager Paul Pedersen fielded a side that included seven summer arrivals alongside returning players such as Bannan. The fresh recruitment gives Pedersen greater scope to change games from the bench and increases competition for places.
