Danny Dyer says Bowen could only join Real Madrid or Manchester City

Actor Danny Dyer, now West Ham United’s father‑in‑law, told he would let Jarrod Bowen depart the Hammers only for two specific clubs – Real Madrid and Manchester City – dismissing any move to Arsenal or Chelsea. He added that while the prospect would hurt him, he respects Bowen’s career choices.

Dyer rules out Arsenal and Chelsea

Dyer, a massive West Ham fan, said of an Arsenal switch: “He’s never going to do that. Why would he? What’s in it for him?” He repeated the sentiment for Chelsea, asking “Why would he go there?”. When asked about Real Madrid he replied simply, “Real Madrid? Yeah, for sure.”

On Manchester City, Dyer admitted a mixed feeling: “Listen, it’s his career. City? I wouldn’t mind that, I’d suffer that. I’m not going to lie, it would hurt, but I’d be over the moon for him.”

Bowen's record and loyalty

Bowen arrived at West Ham United from Hull City in January 2020 for a £22 million fee. Since then he has scored 84 goals in 279 appearances and delivered the dramatic late winner in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final, securing the club’s first major trophy since 1980.
