Danlad Ibrahim's two penalty saves secured Asante Kotoko's triumph in the Democracy Cup as they edged Hearts of Oak in a shootout. The Kumasi-based side prevailed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, clinching the trophy for a second time after a goalless 90 minutes.

Kotoko made an aggressive start, winning three corners within the opening two minutes and controlling early possession. New signing Emmanuel Marmah appeared to give the Porcupine Warriors the lead in the 17th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside, leaving the score level.

Second half and shootout drama

Both teams created chances in the second half, yet the goalkeepers dominated. Danlad Ibrahim repeatedly denied Hearts when the Accra-based side threatened, while Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare produced important saves to keep Kotoko from scoring.

The deadlock led to a penalty shootout in which Ibrahim saved two attempts as Kotoko converted four, securing a 4-1 victory from the spot.
