Daniel Maldini's licence seized after early‑morning Milan crash

Cagliari forward Daniel Maldini was involved in a car crash on Sunday 13 at about 5:15 a.m. on the outskirts of Milan, and police seized his driving licence after two breath‑alcohol tests returned 0.91 mg/l and 0.89 mg/l.

Accident details

The player was driving his Porsche Carrera with three friends aboard when he entered a side street without yielding to a Volkswagen Golf. The front of his car struck the Golf, which then hit a parked Mercedes. The collision occurred near via Caracciolo in the northern periphery of Milão.

Six people were involved: two occupants of the Golf – a man and a woman – and three young men aged 19, 20 and 21, plus Maldini, who is due to turn 25 in a month. All were treated for minor injuries; a sixth person received on‑site care.

Legal and medical aftermath

Police administered two on‑scene breath‑alcohol tests, recording 0.91 mg/l on the first and 0.89 mg/l on the second. Because of the positive results, authorities confiscated Maldini’s licence.

Danilo Buongiorno, the striker’s lawyer, said: “After a brief emergency assessment, Daniel was discharged immediately, returned home and is in good health. Daniel is fine and has suffered no serious injury.”

The incident came only hours after Maldini secured Cagliari’s 2‑1 win over Atalanta on Saturday 12, converting the decisive penalty. The Sardinian side, referred to as Os sardos, celebrated the victory in Serie A round four.
