Dalot Ramos backs Milan’s future as Leao shines in Serie A

Six years have passed since Diogo Dalot first wore the red‑black Milan shirt in the 2020‑21 season, yet the Portuguese full‑back says he remains emotionally tied to the club. He recalled, “I remember that Milan was obviously one of the most important seasons of my career. The way the club welcomed me and how I felt welcomed gave me the confidence I needed.”

On Saturday in Breslavia Dalot faced the Diavolo in a friendly while representing Manchester United, a match that reunited him with former Milan teammates such as Leao, with whom he also shared the Mondiale experience. The encounter allowed him to gauge the progress of his old colleagues on the pitch.

Old ties resurfacing

Dalot confirmed he still keeps in touch with several former Rossoneri, exchanging messages with Pioli, the coach at the time, and speaking recently with Donnarumma after the goalkeeper’s move to Manchester City. He also mentioned Tonali, who has now arrived in the Premier League, as part of the network he maintains. These contacts underline his ongoing connection to the Milan environment.

When the opportunity to return to Milan arose, the club expressed a genuine desire to keep him, but Dalot chose to remain at Manchester United to continue the momentum he is currently enjoying. He explained that his ambition to succeed with United outweighed the pull of a possible homecoming.

Future hopes for Milan

Dalot highlighted that alongside Oceano, Milan have also secured Gonçalo Ramos, a player he believes can propel the side higher in the Serie A table. He said he is ready to bet on Ramos, trusting the youngster to become a key driver for Milan’s ambitions.

Dalot added that Ramos’ work ethic and readiness to help the squad make him a fantastic acquisition for the club.

Regarding Leao, Dalot described him as “a great person, a great human being with a big heart, and a fantastic footballer,” emphasizing that fans recognize his special qualities. He hopes Leao continues to succeed, win more trophies, and become one of the best players Milan has ever had.

The contrast between Dalot’s enduring love for Milan and his current United commitments means he will often watch Milan matches, especially with three Portuguese players – Amorim, Ramos and Leao – in the squad. Il sentiment he expressed reflects a personal blend of loyalty to Milano and ambition with United, a duality he believes enriches his perspective as the UE football calendar unfolds.
