Cucurella rules out tattooing Mourinho and trusts Real
Marc Cucurella, Barcelona's full‑back, appeared on the El Larguero program on Cadena SER while the Spanish national team was in training, a few days after Real Madrid's heavy defeat to Atlético in LaLiga. The player said he does not intend to get a tattoo of José Mourinho, despite the hope of winning the Champions League.
Cucurella expressed optimism about the future of the white side, stating that the team is working to reverse the situation. He believes the season can take a positive turn if unity is maintained in the dressing room.
"I don't like to say we lost because of the referee, because if we had scored four goals, we would surely have won," Cucurella said. "However, in a match of this level the refereeing decision had a big influence."
The player recalled that the match was very evenly balanced until Real obtained a penalty and a red card that changed the dynamics. He noted that, although one fewer card does not guarantee victory, the difference is clearly felt in high‑intensity matches.
Relationship with José Mourinho
Cucurella praised José Mourinho, describing him as a close‑knit and good‑humoured person. He said he would like to continue working under his guidance and looks forward to a successful spell. He flatly rejected the idea of tattooing the coach's face, whom he also calls “Mou”.
Vision of the playing style
According to Cucurella, Real Madrid prefers to run a lot and launch very quick attacks, adapting to the characteristics of its players. He acknowledges that the process has not been completed before the international break, but values that the team has started well and that the cohesion is a strong unit.
Cucurella also noted that the team has been criticised for its tempo, pointing out that the defeat in the derby against Betis fed those criticisms. He said that if the side won every match, no one would talk about a lack of running, and that the priority is to improve results to silence those comments.
Perspective on Vinícius Jr. and the defence
Cucurella spoke about the Brazilian Vinícius Jr., describing him as a hard‑working player who is learning to adapt to the side's style. He added that the defenders will need to gradually adjust to his pace and that the team needs to control possession more to give space to the full‑backs.
The full‑back expressed his wish that luck and refereeing decisions favor Real in the upcoming matches. "We are all in the same boat," he concluded, emphasizing the need to improve and maintain unity.
