Cruijff’s future in doubt as Torino seek Ajax midfielder
Italian Serie A club Torino has reached out to Ajax midfielder Kian Fitz‑Jim and his agent today at 16:38, a move confirmed by transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio as the club searches for an extra midfielder. The contact comes as Torino, which finished 12th in Serie A last season, intensifies its midfield recruitment.
Fitz‑Jim remains under contract with Ajax until mid‑2027 and has featured prominently under manager Francesco Farioli. The previous season his playing time was limited by injuries, reducing his minutes on the pitch.
He returned on Sunday against Burnley at the Johan Cruyff Arena, where new Ajax coach Míchel observed him for the first time. The match offered the 23‑year‑old a chance to showcase his abilities to the incoming manager.
Whether Farioli will rely on the midfielder this campaign is uncertain. Earlier reports indicate Ajax, particularly technical director Jordi Cruijff, is open to bids for any player who can generate revenue, enabling the club to fund new signings.
No formal offer has materialised for Fitz‑Jim, but Di Marzio initial contacts have been established between Torino and the player’s representatives. The Italian side’s interest reflects a broader strategy to add depth to its midfield.
Torino’s scouting this window highlights Fitz‑Jim’s recent performances and European experience as matching the club’s profile. Under newly appointed coach Ignazio Abate, a former AC Milan defender, Torino could integrate the Dutch midfielder into its plans for the upcoming season.
If negotiations advance, Fitz‑Jim may join Torino and feature under Abate in the next Serie A campaign.
