Coventry City’s €24.5m gamble on Chérif fuels Fenerbahçe profit

Coventry City have completed the signing of Sidiki Chérif from Turkish side Fenerbahçe, paying a reported €24.5 million Transfergewinn and securing the 19‑year‑old on a long‑term deal, making him the joint third‑most expensive arrival for the Sky Blues.

Transfer fee and market impact

The fee of €24.5 million, exclusive of bonuses, also places Chérif at third‑most expensive departure for Fenerbahçe. His market value is listed at €18.00 million, and the outlay lifts Coventry’s total summer spending to €142.7 million – a level only eleven clubs have exceeded this season.

Player background and expectations

Born in Guinea and moving to France at age five, Chérif began his career at Angers SCO before joining Fenerbahçe on a €4 million loan in early 2026, later becoming a permanent signing for €18 million. In 17 appearances for the Turkish club he contributed three goals and one assist.

"I am very happy to be a player of Coventry City, and I look forward to playing in the Premier League. I can’t wait to get started," Chérif said, after previously being linked with HSV and VfB Stuttgart.

The announcement appeared in the News section of the Transfers and Gerüchte platform, featuring Marktwerte and Wettbewerbe statistics for the Community and Gaming audience. Recommendations Für SpielerberaterBerater‑SupportBerater‑FirmenPremiumService and a Video preview were added to the Neueste Gerüchteküche. All forums, including Vereinsforen and Bundesliga Foren, discussed the Marktwert‑Analyse and the impact on the Liga and Sportwetten markets. The official (Offiziell) release on 19.08.2026 listed the next (Nächster) Stürmer after Awoniyi, with Sky and Fener noting the Gewinn in Spiele and the Spieler’s Marktwert analysis.

Chérif’s arrival joins a growing list of high‑profile signings for Coventry, reinforcing their attacking options after the recent acquisition of former Union striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
