Coventry breathes relief after ending win drought under Lampard

According to EFE, after four consecutive defeats, Coventry's players lifted a weight off their shoulders by securing their first Premier League win, when the team managed by Frank Lampard beat Nottingham Forest 1‑0 at the City Ground on September 19, 2026.

The goal came ten minutes into the second half after a pass from Carla Rushworth to Jay Dasilva, whose acceleration culminated in a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Matz Sels. Nottingham tried to equalise when Igor Jesus scored in the 87th minute, but the goal was ruled out for a prior foul.

League table situation

With the win, Coventry sit in eighteenth place, level on points with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, within the safety zone. Forest drop to twelfth place, while Tottenham and Fulham remain without a win. Moreover, Arsenal, Hull, Manchester City and Brighton are ahead of Frank Lampard's side in the standings.

Marc Canosa described the match as one of the most violent games in England, noting that Garnacho also fails to convince Emery and that hostility set the pace of the game.

Since then, Lampard's squad has focused on protecting its revenue and surviving, aiming to consolidate the much‑awaited win in its first Premier season since 2000‑2001.

Thus, while Coventry celebrates relief after a run of defeats, Tottenham and Fulham remain without their first win, highlighting the disparity of starts in this campaign.
