Corinthians São Paulo push for Renato Sanches after Bayern flop
The clubless former Bayern player Renato Sanches, who has been without a club since this summer, could move to Brazil in the coming weeks, because Corinthians São Paulo has made a second offer and is urging a quick completion. The 29‑year‑old Portuguese midfielder has been without a club since the termination of his contract with Paris Saint‑Germain at the beginning of September.
Interest from Brazil and Italy
According to the French portal Footmercato, Corinthians São Paulo is showing strong interest in signing the midfielder. Accordingly, the Brazilian club has already made a second offer and is demanding swift negotiations. Additionally, another club from Serie A, the country’s top division, is said to have also set its sights on Sanches.
Review of the failed Bayern transfer
In the summer of 2016, FC Bayern Munich paid €35 million to release Sanches from his contract with Benfica Lisbon. In Munich he never lived up to the high expectations, was loaned to Swansea in 2017 and sold to OSC Lille in 2019, with Bayern receiving €20 million. In 2022 Paris Saint‑Germain stepped in with €15 million for him, but even there he remained only a squad player.
Vincent Kompany honoured in Munich as Bayern applauds a human model
After loan spells at AS Roma, Benfica and most recently Panathinaikos Athens, Paris apparently had enough of him. Recently interest from Union Berlin, Ipswich Town, Hull City, Torino FC as well as Spanish clubs such as Getafe FC was reported, but these rumours remained unconfirmed.
Thus Sanches is at a provisional low point in his career, while Corinthians São Paulo is trying to secure the talent for the upcoming season.
