Container opened, four new faces arrive at ADO Den Haag

Journalist Joost Blaauwhof of VIADO Den Haag reported a turbulent week for the club, not because of unrest but due to a sudden burst of activity on the transfer market. The club opened a container today at 13:00, presenting a quartet of new players.

The activity coincides with the second work week of new technical director Steven Gunn, who arrived from Aberdeen FC after a 25‑year spell in Scotland. Gunn immediately oversaw the opening of the container and the signing of four players.

Lasse Wilhelm joined from FC Saarbrücken as a central defender, Jan Zamburek arrived from Heracles Almelo as a midfielder, Niclas Thiede came from VfL Bochum to strengthen the back line, and striker Donát Bárány was recruited from Hungarian side Debrecen.

Although Gunn has not yet secured a work permit, he conducts his duties from his Scottish home, delivering sharp decisions despite the administrative delay.

Former captain Jari Vlak is currently seeking a new role in Spain, adding another element to the club’s ongoing reshuffle.

Cedric van der Gun has departed as the right‑hand of Mark Wotte, leaving Gunn to fill a comparable position alongside the head coach.
