Comparing Iliman Ndiaye’s wages as Man City shift after Gakpo collapse

Iliman Ndiaye, the 26‑year‑old Senegal international, will join Manchester City from Everton after the club abandoned its pursuit of Cody Gakpo. City have agreed a fee of around £65million and a five‑year contract that runs to 2031, while he currently earns £45,000 per week at Everton.

Why City turned to Ndiaye

Manchester City had been expected to sign Cody Gakpo, but they dropped the target after Liverpool rejected an £80million offer. With a forward option still needed, the Citizens turned to the Everton striker, who had also attracted interest from Tottenham.

Deal terms and wage comparison

The agreement includes a fee of around £65million and a five‑year deal until 2031. Ndiaye’s current weekly wage of £45,000 would place him among the lower‑earners at the Etihad, well below the squad’s top earners such as Erling Haaland at £525,000 and Jack Grealish at £300,000.

During his time at Everton, Ndiaye arrived from Marseille in 2024 for £15million. He has contributed 17 goals and four assists in 73 appearances for the club.

A medical examination is scheduled for tomorrow, after which the player is expected to sign the contract officially. The completion of the deal will see the Senegal international become a full‑time member of the Manchester City squad.

Tottenham had been monitoring Ndiaye, but the club’s swift action means the forward will now wear the sky‑blue shirt instead of the white of Tottenham.

City’s wage breakdown shows a steep hierarchy: after Haaland’s £525,000, the next highest are Jack Grealish (£300,000), Phil Foden (£280,000) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (£265,000). Several players, including Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Elliot Anderson and Marc Guehi, earn £250,000 per week, while the likes of Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo receive £180,000 and £150,000 respectively.

With his current earnings matching only Omar Marmoush’s £45,000, Ndiaye will need to negotiate a raise to reflect the City wage structure. The medical result and final terms will determine whether the move delivers the expected pay rise and on‑field impact.
