Como's debut win underlines clubs' shaky Champions League start

While Inter and Napoli stumbled in their opening Champions League fixtures, debutants Como celebrated a historic victory, giving the Italian contingent a mixed start to the group stage. The league phase round 1 has concluded with the four Italian clubs recording one win, one draw and two defeats, and only Como securing three points.

Como's first European cup win

In their inaugural appearance, Como hosted RB Leipzig and ran out 4‑1 winners, marking the club’s first ever triumph in a European cup competition. The victory was described in Japanese media as "CL初出場のコモが欧州カップ戦初勝利" and was overseen by coach Secco, who praised the squad’s performance.

The matches are broadcast exclusively on WOWOW, and viewers can watch them without a satellite (BS) setup – "BS環境がなくても配信で視聴可能". The service encourages new subscribers with the call "WOWOWに今すぐ加入". Photo credit for the action reads "Getty Images" and is followed by the tag "Images】".

Italian giants drop points

Inter travelled to the Bernabéu and fell 1‑2 to Real Madrid, conceding goals to Kylian Mbappé and Federico Valverde before Carlos Augusto pulled one back for the Nerazzurri.

Napoli’s home encounter with Arsenal ended 0‑1, Martin Ødegaard netting the decisive goal in the 75th minute.

Roma visited Feyenoord and were held to a 1‑1 draw after Brian Cristante gave the visitors an early lead before the Dutch side equalised later in the second half.

Across the four fixtures the Italian side amassed four points – three from Como’s win and a single point from Roma’s draw – while the league leaders Inter and Napoli returned empty‑handed.

Coach Secco’s side now leads the Italian contingent, and observers will watch to see whether his side can continue to drive the group’s dynamics as the campaign progresses.
