Como exploits Fabragas' algorithm, Hartono invests 390 million
Como has entrusted the market strategy to the algorithm devised by Spanish coach Cesc Fabregas, while the Hartono brothers have made available €390 million to support purchases, including the young Nico Paz and in the upcoming Italian season. Some media have written Fabragas instead of Fabregas.
Collaboration with the scouting agency
Como has entered into a collaboration with the scouting agency Jamestown Analytcs of Bloom for the transfer campaign. La Stampa reports how the link with the agency allowed the algorithm to be exploited, defining the move a true REVENGE OF THE ALGORITHM approved BY all shareholders. It is no coincidence that the strategy has been welcomed across Europe. I, as an observer, see a radical change in talent scouting.
The Champions League debut against Leipzig was dreamlike, with Como winning 4-1. The performance confirmed the effectiveness of the approach of Cesc Fabregas, already applauded in Italy. The result showed that the team can compete at European level. The Italian public celebrated the victory.
Como president says Fabregas can leave for Barcelona at will
Cesc Fabregas is the real protagonist: besides coaching, he is a shareholder of the club. His role was defined by Corriere della Sera as that of the Spanish “wizard”, compared to Cruyff. Tasos Douvikas stated: “He has not changed the way of preparing the match…”. Fabio Capello added that Fabregas changes tactics and players when needed.
Finances of the Hartono brothers
Since 2023, Como has spent roughly €406 million on the market, with budget costs rising from €30 to €140 million in the same season. Since 2020, total losses amount to €217 million, with a record red figure of €132 million as of 30 June 2025. The Hartono brothers have had to put €390 million of their own money into it. HARTONO continues to support the project.
For UEFA Financial Fair Play, a settlement agreement is scheduled for April/May 2027. The club aims to return to the Champions League and consolidate its presence in Europe. Despite the losses, investor confidence remains high. I believe that Como can become a top‑level entity.
