Champions League
Como earn three points in the Champions League and collect €33.95 million from UEFA
Como made its historic debut in the Champions League last night at the Sinigaglia, beating Leipzig 4-1 and collecting the first three points of the group stage. The victory also secured the club a prize of €2.1 million, confirming the economic impact of entering the top European competition.
The new Champions League format, introduced in the 2024/2025 season, expanded the number of clubs from 32 to 36, extending the schedule to eight matches per team in the preliminary phase. In addition to Leipzig, Como will face Barcelona, PSG, Betis, Manchester United, Feyenoord, AEK Athens and Lens in this phase.
UEFA announced a total distribution of €2.47 billion to clubs, compared with roughly €2 billion allocated in the 2021‑2024 cycle.
Participation prize and victory bonus
Each club that qualified for the first phase, Como included, received a participation bonus of €18.62 million, split into an initial advance of €17.87 million and a subsequent balance of €750,000.
The win against Leipzig added €2.1 million to Como; victories in the league phase are worth €2.1 million, while draws are worth €700,000, amounts lower than in the previous cycle.
An additional bonus will be awarded based on the final placement in the phase standings: the prize pool is divided into 666 shares of €275,000 each, with the minimum share allocated to the last place.
UEFA's value pillar allocates 73 percent of television rights to the European share and 27 percent to the non‑European share. For Como, the European share amounts to €11.22 million and the non‑European share €1.73 million, for a total of €12.95 million.
Adding the participation bonus and the victory prize, Como has already collected €33.95 million from the 2026/27 Champions League. For the squad led by Cesc Fàbregas, this revenue represents a significant economic value, with the potential to increase further based on future results.
